Due to some of the moral subject matter, I abandoned this book and will not be reading any more in the series.
☆☆☆☆½
For a second, I thought you read The Crossover by Kwame Alexander. I’m guessing the reasons are somewhat similar to the last time you had to DNF for moral subject matter?

You are correct. It is becoming more and more prevalent and at some point I suspect I’ll be changing my reading habits overall.

I went over to good reads to check out some of the reviews. Sounds like there wasn’t much space for actual storyline with the main character being busy with “other” activities most of the time.

This was a debut novel and I’ve read some of his later books, so I knew whatever I read here, style-wise, would improve.
But yeah, it was over descriptive and filled with an amateurs attempt at world building and character building.

I read one of the later books in this series, I think #4. I don’t think you’ll be missing much. It was a decent story, but there’s better mil sci-fi out there.

And there is certainly an abundance of MilSF out there!
