Bookwyrm did another 6Degree Post and it reminded me I should do one too.
Starting with this book, lets see where we end up! (obviously, you know beforehand because of the title. I didn’t know where I was going to end up, so pretend you didn’t see the title and act completely surprised, please.)
A Christmas Carol. The edition I read has a cover composed primarily of the colors Green and Red, appropriate for a Christmas book don’t you think?
A series that is ALL ABOUT colors is the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. I’ve been waiting for the final book since The Blood Mirror came out in ’16. The Burning White, the fifth and final book, is supposed to come next year. May it be so!
A book that I have read that I was waiting for was Sergei Lukyanenko’s Sixth Watch. Thankfully, I didn’t start the Night Watch series until 2015, so I only had a year to wait. My goodness, what great Russian Urban Fantasy.
I don’t like Urban Fantasy. Most of the time. Mainly because I’ve had more run-ins with books like Bitter Night than the types of UF that I end up liking. Totally not cool.
A “cool” book that I did read was Dr. Zhivago. And we’re talking Siberian Exile cold here, not just your every day Snoopy in Joe Cool sunglasses!
Now, when I think of “Sunglasses” only ONE thing comes to mind. Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator!!! While the book wasn’t as awesome as the movie, it still was decent enough.
My goodness, from A Christmas Carol to The Terminator sounds like a title of a Dr. Who Christmas special. You know, back when Dr. Who was awesome with David Tennant? 😉
I’m beginning to think that I like this whole 6th Degree tag thing. I foresee it becoming a semi-regular feature here. Easy peasy and lets me talk nonsense without appearing like a complete idiot. Cheers!
I DNFed Bitter Night by the second chapter. I’ve read a lot of bad UF like that sadly! I like this six degrees thing. It’d be interesting to see where some of my options took me!

I WISH I had dnf’d Bitter Night but alas…
I bet you’d get some wicked cool options if you started doing these.

So surprising, right? It certainly went places I wasn’t expecting.

Haha, this is an awesome post! I was very curious about how you could go from Christmas Carol to the Terminator 😀
Also made me realize that I do want to reread the Watch books very badly. Especially since I haven’t read the last 2 yet.

I have to admit, I do have help from my calibre library when doing these 6degree posts. Especially if covers are in anyway involved.

So I guess I’m not head over heels about the Lightbringer series as much as I expected, but kept on reading anyway because I guess I’m enjoying myself and Weekes is a good guy. At first I thought it was a trilogy, so after the first two I was like, okay, I’ll just read one more to be done with it. But then it turned out he was extended it to four books, and now it’s five. The Burning White IS going to be the last one right? Because I guess I still want to finish the series, but just want to make sure this is it!

Everything I have read indicates that The Burning White is going to be the final book. However, until the story actually concludes, I wouldn’t plan on reading it if I were you. I too thought it was going to be a trilogy but I think that was more due to the Night Angel series being a trilogy than any hard info.
So my opinion is wait and see 🙂

For the life of me I could never have envisioned any kind of logical path from A Christmas Carol to The Terminator, so I am in awe of your logical (?) powers… WOW 😀

Your thought process is ……
alarmingamazing ….. 😉On the note of a Christmas Carol, I found an abridged audiobook that might suit your plans for Christmas Eve. It’s read by John Gielgud and it’s one hour and 10 min. I listened to it the other day and it’s quite good. I’m sending the link in case you want to consider it. https://www.audible.ca/pd/A-Christmas-Carol-Random-House-Version-Audiobook/B0722X1J5Z?qid=1545618637&sr=sr_1_1&ref=a_search_c3_lProduct_1_1&pf_rd_p=65c74350-6dfb-47fa-85fd-1459a4762abd&pf_rd_r=TG9RQ79S6Y2H8WRTD30D&

The logic that brought you to The Terminator is beautiful. Also love the mention of the Lightbringer series. I need to continue that one and time it all with the final book! 😮

After talking with Mogsy, I went to Week’s site and he just posted a video 2 days ago. He had handed in the Burning White to the editor, so it should be out late summer, early 2019.
My only concern is that he mentions how big it is. Suddenly I have visions of GRRM “splitting” up books 😦

I stopped enjoying it after Tennant, but kept watching through the Matt Smith time. Never watched Capaldi and this new woman Dr, not tempted in the least.
