My Thoughts: |
Due to there being 2 rape scenes which were graphic enough, I am done with this book.
★☆☆☆☆
I have never heard of this book. Shall avoid picking it up. Escapism stops being enjoyable when its like that.

The kicker is I picked this up because he wrote another series, called Kensho, that was pretty cool. It was more SF, so I was hoping to get the same thing but in Fantasy. Man, what a disappointment 😦

Nothing worse than getting far less than you bargained for.

How old is this book? I have some vintage fantasy books that look similar Too bad it has 2 rape scenes so early in the book. Makes me wonder how the rest would be! 🤔

1985 I believe. The cover screams 80’s, doesn’t it?
And you echoes my thoughts exactly. What is the rest going to be like? Welp, I’m not going to find out! 🙂

It does! I actually love these old covers. I’m going to break into one maybe next week. I haven’t read a lot of old fantasy, but feel like I need to try something different. Hoping this isn’t a recurring theme! I don’t blame you for DNFing it. 😉

Depending on how “old” you want to go, Howard’s Conan books (not any others by other authors) are pretty good…

Thanks for that tip. I’ll see what’s in my box. 😉

I will be avoiding this one for sure! Thanks for the warning.

Honestly, considering this is from 1985, I think it will disappear completely in another decade. Some books just won’t stand the test of time and this is definitely one of them.
I didn’t check on devilreads, but on librarything mine is the only the review…

Hahaha, yeah that sounds like something that won’t be available much longer. I hate when that happens tho.

It makes you wonder what else will be in the book. It sounds like using rape scenes for shock value which a lot of readers won’t like. I’m not surprised you DNFed.

It definitely did come across as shock value. And it shocked me right out of finishing the book 🙂

It was just the kick in the back after the previous 3 low star books. Very discouraging…

1985 was my birth year… Was going to make some sex joke about just going in 18% but it was funnier in my mind. Bummer this did not work out for you.

Yeah, amazing how things are hilarious in our minds sometimes. Mrs B reminds of this often when I open my mouth 😀

This is literally the worst month I’ve had in years. I need a vacation from books for a bit…

You need a book with fluffy bunnies and rainbow unicorns now, to wash away the bad taste left by this one… Better luck next time! 🙂

Indeed! After the last 4, I’m about ready for fluffy bunnies

2!!! Within 18% of a book. Some kind of erotica fantasy book for twisted minds you got there….

Oh, it wasn’t erotic in the least. I just don’t understand what the author was trying to accomplish.

Ugh, no thanks. Thank you for the warning. That seems awful!
