SUNSHINE: A BOOK THAT MADE YOU SMILE
The Rook by Daniel O’Malley. The humor was delicious and just tickled my funny bone the whole time I was reading.
RAIN: A BOOK YOU COULDN’T PUT DOWN
Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Jones. I’m pretty sure I read this in one sitting because it was just so fantastic at the time.
WIND: A BOOK THAT BLEW YOU AWAY
The Last Dragon by Jane Yolen. While I’m not usually one for artwork appreciation, this artwork “blew me away”. I used those exact words too, which is why I immediately thought of it for this category 🙂
HURRICANE: A TRAGIC BOOK
Count Brass by Michael Moorcock. The book ends with Hawkmoon (the main character) waking up from a madness and finding out his wife and children only ever existed in his mind. I don’t know what is sadder than that!
BLIZZARD: A BOOK YOU HAD HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR
The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks. This middle book of the Lightbringer series lived up to my extremely high expectations. That doesn’t happen very often.
TORNADO: A BOOK YOU DIDN’T LIKE AT FIRST BUT ENDED UP LOVING
Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan. It was bloody, grim and gritty but once I got into the story itself, It was fantastic.
It’s wonderful when you get a book that you want to read in one sitting. 🙂

It rarely happens anymore, so I try to appreciate the times it does work out that way 🙂

Do you have high expectations of blizzards? At one point when caught in a tornado do you stop hating it and just give into the swirl?

Yeah, some of these questions were weird, weren’t they? I’m a hunker down at home kind of guy when it comes to blizzards. As for tornadoes, I learned everything I needed to know about them between Wizard of Oz and Twister, ie, avoid them at all costs.

Nice tag! (I might borrow it one of these days…)
And I found myself nodding in agreement at your description for Promise of Blood, since my own reaction was the same 🙂

It took a friend saying the trilogy as a whole was just fantastic to get me back into it. I am glad I did 🙂

Thanks. I’ve got a list of about 100 of them and with that many, I can pick one that suits my mood 🙂

Yes, I can see how the artistic side of that production would appeal to you…

Interesting choices! I’d like to read The Last Dragon, so I’ll keep that one in mind. My kids loved Howl’s Moving Castle. They read the other books too, which I never even knew existed.
This was a fun tag to read! Maybe I’ll try it one day. Have a good week.

The Last Dragon seems like the kind of book that a library would invest in, so if you don’t have immediate access, they might be able to pick it up.
You have a good week too 🙂

I do see that they have it, but is it a complete graphic novel? I was thinking it just had extra illustrations.

Nope, it’s a complete graphic novel.

Glad to see you enjoyed Howl’s Moving Castle. I first learned of it when I watched the Miyazaki anime. And while I love Miyazaki I did prefer the book once I finally read it. Lots of fun. And I just started reading my first Moorcock book, volume 1 of The Elric Saga.

I hope you enjoy Elric. If you like that, then definitely try Corum 🙂

I bought the same Elric volume. I hope I’ll like it, because volume 2 looks dope as well.

Each volume should have 3 stories. And then you can go read Corum 🙂

Interesting choices, some of which I’ve never heard of. Like Todd I also bought my first Moorcock, volume 1 of the Elric saga.

Hahahaaa.
Do you have a re-reading plan or is it just kind of wibbly-wobbly?

I’ve told myself that I’d wait 3-5 years before ever rereading any book/series just so that it can feel like a novel experience. And with how you handle rereads in general, I tell myself that that should be fine, giving me enough time in the meantime to discover other books that I’ve been meaning to read.

The original tag used massive png files for the weather symbols, so I changed them to jpg and downsized them. I think I cut the size by about 75-90%? It made me wonder what the person was thinking when they used such big files in the first place.
I have to admit, I chose this based on the weather pictures 😀

🤣 Seems like a perfectly reasonable way to choose a tag!

Hahahaaa. I’ve been going through a 100 Tag list and sadly, about 10% so far lead to dead links 😦
So not only do I look at the title now, but once I arrive at a live site, I check out the pictures involved.

Dead links are such a bugbear!

It is just sad to see so many sites disappear. I’m guessing the blogger got tired and quit 😦

Sorry, didn’t mean to be such a downer. It’s just on my mind because I was doing the tag post for next month and this happened to me, so it’s fresh.
On the plus side, it’s sunny here 😀
