The foray into the Shifting Lands was interesting but the rest was passe.
What makes the lands so shifting?

It literally moves around. So you might see a mountain ahead of you, then when you’ve gone through a forest, said mountain is now behind you.

Is there some wizard behind this?
Does anyone get sucked into the sand?

In conan stories, there is ALWAYS a wizard behind almost everything. THey’re like cockroaches 😀
Sadly, no. Lots of evil vampire elves though for Conan to slaughter.

I’m trying to remember where I know this author’s name from…? Possibly from past your reviews?

I’ve one or two other Conan books by Roberts but I don’t think I’ve ever read anything else by him.

OK thanks. I just had a look at his bibliography and am not familiar with his other books.

I really, really enjoyed the shifting lands. And, among other sources, that sequence probably provides some inspiration for the World of Dreams and especially the Aelfinn and Eelfinn in The Wheel of Time. I know Robert Jordan edited some of Tor’s Conan pastiches.

Jordan wrote a bunch of Conan too, was it for TOR?

Man, those incredibly short reviews of yours make commenting a difficult task for me! 😉

Yep, which is why this is pretty much happening only for this month…

Would you recommend Conan to a particular audience? I want to give it a try someday, at least more comics or something, but I’m never properly inspired to dive deep.

If you like old school fantasy and by that I mean a fun adventure filled story that doesn’t worry about anything in real life, and just want something simple, then I’d recommend Conan.
That being said, I’d highly recommend the original stuff by Howard first, just so you got the best first.
