I started this book fulling expecting it give it one star. I was uber-pissed about the length of time between book 3 and this. I didn’t care about Britain’s “reasons” given on her blog or anything else she had to say.

As the story went on, I got over that. This was a half decent story with some real interesting possibilities and I was thinking, OK, this deserves 3 stars ’cause I’m liking this.

Then things got all romance’y. And by romance’y, I mean angsty, poke my eyes out with the characters whining about their love or lack thereof. And the consumation scene? Next thing you know, the next book will be a soft porn romance, sigh. A lot of things felt like they were thrown in because the author would have liked something like that, not because it was integral to the story.

Finally, the ending cliffhanger. Britain really needs to wrap this series up. Instead, she keeps making this bigger and bigger. If I have to wait another 4+ years before the NEXT book, and it isn’t the final book, then I will not be reading it. Period.

Miss Britain, get over yourself and wrap this thing up. You want to write more, fine. Do it with another series. I’m just about ready to get rid of my 3 previous hardcovers in the series and be done with you. I can’t recommend your Greenrider series anymore because I don’t know when it will end and I will not put others through this same path of daggers that I have gone through.

well, this is turning into a series. A VERY good series to! This deals with King Zachary and more remnants of the Second Empire. An old woman, a necromancer awakened by Mornhavon’s awakening, plans the kidnapping of Estoria, Zachary’s bride to be. This is simply a diversion to allow the Second Empire to use black magic to take down the Deyer Wall. This book focuses on the wall. Alton plays a big part. Find out the history of the land and what happened after Mornhavon’s defeat. I really am looking forward to the rest of this series.

Update-this series was finally updated to book 4 in 2011. And it is a cliffhanger as well. I can no longer recommend this series based upon book 4 [and probably 5, 6 and 7, sigh.]

a good successor to Green Rider. Karrigan resists actually joining the Green Riders, but is “haunted” by Lil Ambrioth, the First Rider and eventually joins up. Mornhavon the Black’s consciousness is awakening in the Black Forest. Alton goes to the breach in the wall to attempt to repair it. He ends up being fooled by Mornhavon and almost destroys it. Karrigan foils a plot by the “Second Empire” [original descendants loyal to Mornhavon] and sends Mornhavon into the future to give Acoria time to prepare some kind of magical defense. Much more original than the first novel. Looking forward to the end of this trilogy, in a good way.

Update-Series is currently at Book 4 with no end in sight. I would not recommend this series to anyone until it is finished.

this is Britain’s first novel, and yes, it shows. There are times that you have to shake your head and wonder how long between her reading of Tolkien and her writing her story.

A dire threat is somewhat foiled by a young girl who ends up joining the Green Riders. Green Riders are magic users and completely loyal to the king. 2 more books in this series. Bordered on the young/adult line for me.

Update-This series is now at 4 books with no end in sight. Not recommended until it actually ends…
